Grace Covenant Church of Oak Ridge is a new congregation intentionally seeking to be
Inclusive: Grace Covenant Church is an interdenominational fellowship aligned with the International Council of Community Churches and the Alliance of Baptists. Mindful of Jesus' prayer that "they may be one," our current membership consists of persons representing 14 different denominational backgrounds. We welcome all persons without regard to outward distinctions by which the world separates, classifies, and discriminates.
In Covenant: Membership is based on affirmation of our Covenant of Grace--our promises to God and to one another. Far from a doctrinal statement requiring uniformity, our Covenant moves from affirming the grace God in Christ to giving expression to our calling to build a community of grace for the sake of the larger community and world in which we live.
Inquiring: Aware that we know only in part and need others to assist us on faith's journey, we are committed to making church a safe place to raise questions and deal with issues concerning the Christian faith and life. We speak of ourselves as an unfinished people of faith, conscientiouslycommitting ourselves to the lifelong curve of learning inherent in being a Christian disciple.
In Service: Following the call of Christ, the church exists for service and is energized by ministry to the least of God's children. We are committed to a ministry of peace and justice. We advocate religious liberty through the separation of church and state and the responsible stewardship of God's creation. Having covenanted "to live in the world as servants of God," we embrace ecumenical and interfaith partnerships in celebration of the universal presence, love, and revelation of God to the whole human family.
Please feel free to contact us if you have questions or desire further information. We welcome you to visit with us and learn about us firsthand. If you do, you will find yourself among friends.
