In its sixth year of ministry, Grace Covenant Church of Oak Ridge is
Interdenominational:
Grace Covenant Church is an interdenominational fellowship aligned with the International Council of Community Churches and the Alliance of Baptists. Our current membership consists of persons who have been previously associated with 14 different denominations.
Inclusive:
Seeking to mold our ministry by the example of the Christ who levels dividing walls of hostility, we welcome all persons without regard to the outward distinctions by which the world separates, classifies, and discriminates.
In Covenant:
We gather around a Covenant of Grace. Far from a rigid statement of doctrine calling us to walk in lock step, our Covenant gives expression to our deepest commitments and our highest aspirations. It speaks to our covenant understanding of the church as the Body of Christ, the sense of mission which drives us, and the responsibility we bear toward one another and toward the world in which we live.
Inquiring:
Aware that we know only in part and need others to assist us on faith's journey, we are committed to making church a safe place to raise questions and deal with issues. We speak of ourselves as an unfinished people of faith, conscientiously committing ourselves to the lifelong curve of learning inherent in Christian discipleship.
In Service:
Following the call of Christ, the church exists for service and is energized by ministry to the least of God's children. We are committed to a ministry of peace and justice. We advocate religious liberty through the separation of church and state and the responsible stewardship of God's creation. We embrace ecumenical and interfaith partnerships in celebration of the universal presence, love, and revelation of God to the whole human family.
